How to save valuable time through automation

With HYDROGRID’s intelligent real-time dispatch to less manual tasks

Project Overview

Teksdal is a storage power plant with two connected reservoirs in Norway. Particularly mentionable for this power plant are the numerous ecological and operational restrictions which needed to be taken into account. Among others, a constant amount of water (0.25 m³/s) has to pass one outlet for fish farmers. This also meant that production cannot be immediately ramped up/down but rather has to be done progressively in order not to harm fishes.

Fully Automated Constraint Management

Managing multiple complex operational constraints in an automated fashion

The operations team of the power plant spent multiple hours per week to manage the complex operational constraints. After setting up the HYDROGRID Insight solution, all existing constraints were managed in a fully-automated fashion, while also optimizing the plant dispatch based on market prices and hydrological data. This led to a decrease in manual time needed to manage the power plant by 6 hours/week and to an increase in revenues by 7%.
